Some of you may recognize the image above and some of you may not. It is a scene from the cult movie by Stanley Kubrick “The Shining”. You are probably wondering what does an 80’s horror movie have to do with rugs. In Kubrick’s case, he is using the rug to set a tense, creepy, mystic, and almost psychedelic mood. This goes to show the huge impact a rug can have on a specific space and just like Kubrick, you too can easily use the rug to achieve a desired effect.

Rugs can be used in many different ways. They can either bring the room together or divide it, they can complement your décor or add a little contrast, they can bring brightness, warmth, and they can be a vivid focal point to any room.
